Our Key Issues
When crisis strikes, SCAN speaks up.
We champion the rights of the world’s 2.3 billion children.
Surviving is just the beginning for at-risk kids. In the face of ever-growing humanitarian need, SCAN is urging Congress to fund urgent and long-term support for struggling families and communities — advocating for programs that keep children healthy, learning and safe from harm.
Low-income Iowans are struggling to feed their families. The Iowa Senate will soon consider providing another million dollars in funding for the Double Up Food Bucks Program. This program provides dollar for dollar matching funds for SNAP recipients when they purchase fresh fruits and vegetables. Urge Iowa lawmakers to vote YES on SF 232.
On this grim anniversary, 7.5 million children require lifesaving humanitarian aid. Please, tell Congress: Syria’s children deserve a second chance at childhood.
As they overcome the horrors of war, fight the crushing weight of poverty and escape hunger’s grip, the support they rely on is at risk. Tell Congress: Children’s lives are on the line. Step up and protect foreign assistance!
1 in 7 children in the U.S. lives in poverty, and millions more are facing life-threatening crises worldwide. To build a brighter future for kids, President Trump and Congress must take bold action during their first 100 days in office.
Volunteer with SCAN and join a community of changemakers! There are endless ways to channel your passion for helping kids: write letters to the editor, participate in local events, fundraise or meet with Congress. Don’t worry – we’ll provide the tools you need to be a powerful champion for children.
“Meeting with policymakers makes me feel like the voice of my community has been heard. I’m already imagining children going to school and getting access to healthcare services.”
– Kubra, youth activist from Nigeria
