Meet Alton, a Louisiana Head Start teacher with a passion for early childhood education.
Alton dedicates every day to helping his students thrive.
“I love being around the kids and watching them grow,” he says. “I love being able to help them learn new things, see their personalities come out and know I’m making a difference in their lives.”
With a little extra encouragement, Alton has seen timid kids transform into confident learners.
Each milestone they reach is proof that consistent care can change a child’s future. That’s exactly what Alton provides during kids’ critical early years – helping them develop social-emotional skills and build strong foundations.
He knows Head Start is so much more than a childcare program.
It’s a safe space and a source of family support services, preparing young learners to succeed in school and beyond. “It takes a lot of patience, hard work, dedication and love,” Alton shares. “At the end of the day, we’re not just doing a job. We’re making a difference.”
But not every child has access to quality early learning opportunities.
Educators like Alton are urging leaders to invest in Head Start and the communities that rely on it.
