Save the Children Action Network Celebrates 100 Days of Action: Investing in Kids, Investing in America

April 29, 2025

Washington – April 29, 2025

Today, Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) marks the first 100 days of the  administration by highlighting the critical work advocates have done to protect children and families — demonstrating that when we invest in kids, we invest in America’s future.

Despite rapid changes on Capitol Hill and in state legislatures, SCAN advocates showed up loudly, fiercely, and fearlessly for children — both in the U.S. and around the world.

In the first 100 days, SCAN advocates:

  • Sent nearly 1 million messages to Congress, including 250,000 in defense of vital foreign aid;
  • Organized text banks reaching more than 22,000 supporters to defend SNAP within 24 hours, leading to over 160 personal appeals to lawmakers;
  • Helped pass a federal spending bill that preserved funding for early learning and nutrition programs;
  • Added new bipartisan co-sponsors to child and family tax credit legislation;
  • Delivered 63,000 messages and 1,446 valentines during the Have a Heart campaign urging investment in early learning programs;
  • Secured updates to a summer food delivery program, helping reach more children in rural America;
  • And raised more than $162,000 for Save the Children’s Emergency Fund to respond to urgent needs globally.

Investing in kids is investing in America,” said Christy Gleason, Executive Director of Save the Children Action Network. “When we fight for children’s access to education, nutrition, and opportunity, we’re not only shaping stronger futures for them — we’re building a stronger country for all of us.”

SCAN’s grassroots network continues to drive forward, advocating for policies that put kids first and demanding bold leadership from Congress and the Administration. As the next 100 days begin, SCAN remains committed to ensuring that investing in children remains a national priority.

Head Start funding is under threat, putting families across the nation at risk.

Head Start helps children thrive as learners AND in life – boosting their chances of graduating high school, attending college, securing steady jobs and breaking the cycle of poverty. But if we don’t act now, federal funding could go to ZERO. Programs across the country won’t be able to pay their staff or keep their doors open.
