Rescinding Critical Funding for Children is a Death Sentence

June 9, 2025

Back in March, Congress approved funding with bipartisan support for children who need lifesaving assistance worldwide. But now, the White House wants to claw back $8.3 billion that was designated to fund critical global health programs, disease prevention efforts, and lifesaving refugee assistance and disaster relief for children!

Rescinding this funding would result in the widespread suffering and preventable deaths of children.  It would mean sitting by while children go hungry, families’ who’ve been driven from their homes struggle to find shelter, and mothers and babies who need basic medical care go without.

In short,

  • More children will go unprotected against deadly diseases.
  • More mothers will give birth without skilled care, and more newborns will die.
  • More families will go without food, shelter or health care.
  • And, more children will be at risk of exploitation and abuse, without the nurturing care they need to survive.

The result will be higher costs in the future with more humanitarian crises, more instability and more lives lost.

This proposal is a death sentence for the world’s most vulnerable children – and we must stop it.

Tell Congress to Keep Their Promise to Children

The White House is asking Congress to take back billions in already bipartisan approved foreign aid funding. Rescinding this money means kids will go without food, shelter or health care in the midst of a crisis. It’s a death sentence for the world’s most vulnerable children.
