5 Fights We’re Taking on in 2026

2026 is sure to be packed with policy debates, funding battles and rapid-fire votes – all with real consequences for kids.

As high-stakes decisions unfold on Capitol Hill, Save the Children Action Network is laser-focused on five key priorities:

  1. PRIORITIZING KIDS THIS ELECTION YEAR: Elevating child hunger and early learning with candidates and voters – up and down the ballot.
  1. EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION: We’ll urge Congress to protect Head Start and pass the Child Care Modernization Act, strengthening the childcare workforce, boosting local economies and making early learning more affordable.
  1. ENDING U.S. HUNGER: We’ll champion SNAP, Summer EBT and WIC – essential safety nets ensuring mothers, newborns and kids have reliable access to fresh, nutritious food.
  1. PROTECTING KIDS IN CRISIS WORLDWIDE: We’ll fight to defend and restore investments in lifesaving child-focused aid that improves child health, emergency response, long-term development and stability across the globe.
  1. TAX POLICY: We’ll work to support newly authorized Children’s Investment Accounts, which provide a one-time $1,000 deposit for every child born in America through 2028 – a starter investment to help families secure their children’s financial futures.

How will we accomplish these goals? Relentless action, coordination, passion – and YOU.

Hosting in-person advocacy events. Holding face-to-face meetings with lawmakers. Sending millions of messages to Congress. Amplifying voices that deserve to be heard.

Advocates power all the work we do. Speak up, donate, or volunteer and get involved today!

Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) was created in 2014 as the political advocacy arm of Save the Children to be the political voice for kids. We work to ensure that the issues critical to children’s lives and futures are given top priority by our elected leaders, building bipartisan support to make sure every child has a strong start in life.
