Presidential Debates

Engage on Social Media

The 2024 election season is in full swing

This June and September, President Biden and former President Trump will take to the debate stage to talk about critical issues. This is a great opportunity to gather friends, community members and other Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) volunteers together to watch the debate. This guide will equip you with all things social for the Presidential debates and how you can use your platform to raise awareness for kids.

SCAN’s Social Media Handles

Social media can be a great tool when you are watching the debate but it’s important you’re tagging the correct social media handles when doing so. When posting about the debate, be sure to tag the following SCAN accounts:

Hashtags and Best Practices

A great way to amplify your social media posts is by using hashtags. Here is a list of hashtags you can add to your posts:

  • #InvestInKids
  • #Vote4Kids
  • #2024Debates

Be sure to tag SCAN with any of the above hashtags before, during and after the debate for a chance to be reposted! Here are three quick ways you can engage on your social media:

  1. Re-share content from Save the Children Action Network (SCAN).
  2. Tag SCAN with #Debate2024 before the debate and share what you’re hoping the candidates will talk about!
  3. Share pictures of yourself watching with friends or family and be sure to tag SCAN.
  4. If you’re using Instagram, be sure to attach the link to your watch party through your Stories using the “Link” sticker. Please note – pasting links on your Instagram post captions will not be easily accessible to your audience.

Sample Copy for the Debate

Help elevate critical kids’ issues by posting on your social media accounts. Here are a few copy examples:

  • Who are you watching the 2024 Presidential debate with? Join me, and @SCActionNetwork volunteers in the fun at our #Vote4kids watch party on June 27. Let’s unite and bring awareness to the future of tomorrow! #InvestInKids
  • 13 million kids are going hungry in the U.S. That’s far too many children in a country that can meet those needs. During the #2024Debates, I’ll be keeping an eye out for how our future president will address child hunger. #InvestInKids
  • 11 million kids across the U.S. are living in poverty and the cost of everyday essentials continues to rise. I’m hoping the debate moderators prioritize the needs of children and ask about The Child Tax Credit tonight.  #Vote4Kids #InvestInKids
  • As an advocate for children, I’m curious to know how our future president will bridge the gap for #EarlyEd in the U.S? #Vote4Kids #InvestInKids
