Senator Has Proven Record of Leadership on Advancing Early Learning, Addressing Child Hunger in Iowa

September 7, 2022 – Today, Save the Children Action Network, a leading political voice for children, proudly endorsed Senator Sarah Trone Garriott (D) for reelection for her proven record of fighting to advance learning opportunities and prevent child hunger. 

“Senator Sarah Trone Garriott has been a champion for Iowa’s children and Save the Children Action Network is proud to endorse her for reelection. She has worked to expand early childhood education and combat child hunger. Iowa’s children and families need experienced and proven legislators like Senator Trone Garriott to ensure a stronger future for our state,” said Save the Children Action Network’s Iowa Manager E.J. Wallace.  

SCAN is activating a robust effort in support of Sen. Sarah Trone Garriott, including a forthcoming digital ad spend later this fall and strategic voter contact program including door knocking and text banks. Sen. Sarah Trone Garriott, a Democrat, is running for reelection in Senate District 14.

Sarah Trone Garriott’s (D- IA Senate District 14) Record:

  • Sponsored legislation to expand the child tax credit, putting money back in the pockets of hard-working parents.
  • Introduced multiple pieces of legislation to improve access to quality, affordable child care and preschool, ensuring more parents can go to work knowing their children are safe and learning. She has also sponsored several bills to make child care more affordable and accessible – giving Iowa parents more choices. 
  • Worked to advance legislation that would bring more fruits and vegetables to low-income families by expanding Double Up Food Bucks  – helping more kids have the nutritious food they need to grow and thrive.
