Save the Children Action Network Endorses Jon Dunwell for Reelection

Legislator Has Worked to Advance Early Learning in Iowa

September 7, 2022 – Today, Save the Children Action Network, a leading political voice for children, endorsed Representative Jon Dunwell (R) for reelection for his proven record of fighting to advance learning opportunities and prevent child hunger.

“Save the Children Action Network is proud to endorse Representative Jon Dunwell for reelection due to his work in support of policies that help Iowa’s children thrive. Recently, Jon opposed potentially harmful legislation that would reduce the quality of child care in Iowa. With Dunwell’s reelection, Iowa’s parents will continue to have a lawmaker who recognizes the critical importance of high-quality child care and early learning,” said Save the Children Action Network’s Iowa Manager E.J. Wallace.

Rep. Jon Dunwell, a Republican, is running for reelection in House District 38.

Jon Dunwell’s (R- IA House District 38) Record:

  • Was one of a handful of Republicans who voted against a bill that allows minors who work or volunteer at a child care facility to be unsupervised.
  • Supported sending additional funds to benefit education programs – including Iowa’s preschool program serving low-income children – to offset higher costs brought on by pandemic-era inflation and worker shortages.
  • Demonstrated support for bringing fresh, Iowa-grown fruit and vegetables to SNAP beneficiaries.
