WASHINGTON, DC (November 7, 2023) – Save the Children Action Network (SCAN), a leading political voice for kids, applauds Colorado voters for passing Proposition II. This measure affirms Colorado’s commitment to preschool and to ensuring children across the state can access the life-long benefits of quality early education.  

 “Alongside the Preschool for All Coloradans Coalition and families around the state, we are excited to celebrate the passage of Proposition II,” said Annalise Romoser, Save the Children Action Network’s  Advisor for State and Electoral Campaigns, Western Region, “This victory is a testament to the power of the collective action of early childhood education advocates and commitment of Coloradans to invest in our state’s future.” 

SCAN worked closely with the Preschool for All Coloradans coalition to support of Proposition II and engaged SCAN advocates to text more than 110,000 Colorado voters, generate 1,440 handwritten postcards, and submit letters to the editors highlighting the importance of Proposition II and the impact it would have on children and families. Additionally, SCAN contributed $86,500 to Preschool for All Coloradans to support the success of the campaign. 
 
Proposition II safeguards funds that voters originally intended for the Universal Preschool Program (UPK). The measure retains nearly $24 million for UPK, without raising taxes. These funds are essential to support and expand Colorado’s Universal Preschool Program.
