Denver, Colo. (May 22, 2018) – Save the Children Action Network President Kris Perry released the following statement today after Governor Hickenlooper signed into law HB18-1208, the bipartisan Expand Child Care Expenses Income Tax Credit bill.
“We are proud to have supported this legislation since its conception. It will help low- and middle-income families afford high-quality child care and education for their children, something that is out of reach for too many parents in Colorado.”
“This legislation will expand the state Child Care Expenses Income Tax Credit, increasing the percentage of the state credit currently eligible taxpayers can claim and helping more working families obtain the quality child care they desperately need.”
“We know high-quality early childhood education, including child care, is essential in ensuring all children receive the strong start in life they deserve. It is a key step in breaking the cycle of poverty and strengthening Colorado’s workforce.”
“We will continue to work with Republicans and Democrats in the State Capitol to expand access to early childhood education and child care across Colorado.”
