Denver, Colo. (April 20, 2018) – Save the Children Action Network President Kris Perry released the following statement on the state House of Representatives voting today to reauthorize the Child Care Contribution Tax Credit bill, HB18-1004, with a 39-22 bipartisan vote. The bill will now be sent to the Senate for consideration.
“Reauthorizing the highly effective Child Care Contribution Tax Credit (CCTC), a public-private partnership that generates new funds for early childhood education, including child care, is a critical step in ensuring providers in Colorado can continue to offer the high-quality child care that working families rely on.”
“Colorado’s child care costs are among the highest in the nation, and we applaud lawmakers for investing in children through their support of this bill, which would expand the tax credit for individuals and businesses for five years.”
“Investing in programs that support children helps two generations at once, allowing parents to remain in the workforce and giving children a strong start in life.”
“This expansion will guarantee this proven and effective mechanism for supporting kids and families continues. We look forward to working with Republicans and Democrats in the state Senate and with the governor to make sure all children in Colorado have the opportunity to succeed.”
