Orangeburg, SC (September 26, 2023)– Save the Children and Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) are proud to announce the “Bridge the Gap for Kids Walk,” a 4K walk and exciting community event with the intention to ensure every child has a fair chance to grow up healthy, educated, and safe. This family-friendly gathering will occur on October 14th, 2023, at the picturesque Centennial Park in Orangeburg, South Carolina. 

“Bridge the Gap for Kids Walk” is a FREE event where attendees can look forward to refreshments, swag giveaways, music, and an engaging kids’ zone for all registered participants. The event will be joined by guest speakers, including Mayor Michael Butler, Al Jenkins from Senator Tim Scott’s office, and influential community leaders. 

 

This event is more than just a walk; it’s an opportunity to create better outcomes for children and families. Participants will get the chance to explore different ways to get involved with SCAN and Save the Children in Orangeburg, including volunteer opportunities with the Community Action Team, family engagement programs, and student clubs in local high schools and universities.  

 

Participants will discover how their involvement can create a ripple of change that extends far beyond the event itself and learn about several Save the Children Action Network initiatives: 

• “High Five for Kids” campaign, giving children a voice on the 2024 Presidential campaign trail. 
• The Farm Bill, the nation’s largest package of anti-hunger legislation, up for reauthorization. 

In addition to these initiatives, the event aims to enhance Peer-to-Peer fundraising skills and knowledge. Fundraising is not required to attend the event. All funds raised will go to support Save the Children’s U.S. Programs.
