Nearly 20% of kids across the U.S. face food insecurity – and in some rural counties, it’s as high as 50%.
Signed into law in July, the “One Big Beautiful Bill” (H.R.1) includes sweeping changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP):
Now, America’s hunger crisis is about to get even worse – especially in rural communities, where groceries are harder to access and poverty is more persistent.
In total, 22.3 million families are expected to lose some or all of their benefits.
SNAP reduces hunger by up to 30%, lifts millions out of poverty, helps children eat healthier and boosts local economies.
It’s not just a line item – it’s a lifeline.
Congress should do more to support our rural families.
