About Us

Who is SCAN

Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) Is the Leading Political Voice for Kids

Creating Bi-Partisan Support for Children in the U.S. and Globally

Kids can’t vote, and they don’t give money to political candidates. That’s why they need your voice!

Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) is Save the Children’s political advocacy arm, created in 2014 to be the political voice for kids. Through a combination of grassroots activism, compelling messaging and candidate engagement, we build relationships with policymakers to increase investments in expanding access to early childhood education, preventing child hunger in the U.S and globally and protecting children around the world from harm in times of crisis.

MISSION & Values

Together, we turn advocacy into policy wins so children can thrive.

Our SCAN community works together to make sustainable policy changes. We recruit and train volunteers — including parents, early learning professionals and students — to engage with candidates and elected officials and campaign to achieve big wins for kids.

Use Your Voice for Kids

SCAN volunteers help spread the word in their local community by writing letters to the editor of their local newspaper and participating in local events. They also learn how to advocate so they can meet with their members of Congress, host house parties and more. When you volunteer with SCAN, you learn how to be a powerful advocate for children.

Our Partnerships

Our victories and impact are made possible because of our partners.

Our community partnerships play a significant role in amplifying the impact of our work. By collaborating with like-minded organizations, we’re able to extend our reach and deepen our influence. We work with partners at both the state and national levels. The organizations listed below are those with whom we have a formalized partnership.

Early Learning Nation

Together with X national partners, we are working to support local community leaders of parents, caregivers, program providers, faith leaders, elected and government officials, and others to offer an integrated, scalable approach to individual leadership development and support to expand early learning opportunities in these communities.

Southern Education Foundation

We’re proud to be a national partner of the Southern Education Foundation’s Southern Early Childhood Education Justice (SECEJ) network. Together, we are working to improve and expand learning opportunities for young children across the South, through systemic and transformative policy change, focused on historically underserved children of color and those in low-income families.
