Cites Governor’s Record of Delivering Universal Preschool, Critical Investments in Education for Colorado

September 8, 2022 – Today, Save the Children Action Network, a leading political voice for children, announced it has endorsed Colorado Governor Jared Polis for reelection. During his time in office, Governor Polis created opportunities for Colorado’s children by expanding access to child care, securing free full-day kindergarten, and establishing voluntary, free preschool for all four-year-olds across the state.

Thanks to his leadership in making universal preschool a reality, all Colorado families will have access to quality preschool regardless of their economic circumstances or zip code. Governor Jared Polis’s record of delivering for Colorado’s children includes the following:

  • Championed full-day kindergarten (FDK), working with legislators to secure free access to full-day kindergarten for every five-year-old in Colorado.
  • Shepherded into law universal preschool for Colorado’s youngest learners, which is expected to save families an average of $4,300 per year.
  • Brought early childhood into focus by standing up the Colorado Department of Early Childhood.
  • Worked with legislators to allocate $45 million in urgent COVID relief funding to keep the child care industry afloat.
