The Bahai Health Dispensary is one of the many health centers that has received support for mothers and newborns as part of Save the Children’s Health Signature Program to reduce mother and newborn mortality in Kenya. Save The Children has supported the center in a number of ways, including renovation work and provision of basic equipment for the maternity unit, installation of water storage and a solar lighting system and the training of health care workers on emergency newborn care.
Save the Children also helped to form two groups of ten local health workers who move from house to house to teach families about maternal and newborn health care services.
By the beginning of April 2016, figures showed that in 2016 the center had already seen 392 live births, treated 397 pregnant women, seen 1,748 children under five years old and 4,378 children under the age of fifteen.
