Wednesday Wisdom on home visiting from former football player

Former Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green credits his athletic success to his parents and the wisdom they passed down to him. He says without their knowledge, he wouldn’t have been able to achieve his career and life goals.

Unfortunately, as Green noted earlier this year, many parents aren’t in this situation. For new or expecting parents, raising a family can put them in tough positions, preventing them from being able to unlock their child’s full potential. Often times, these families need support to help raise their child and navigate through the pitfalls of parenthood. This is where home visiting enters. Home visiting programs like Maternal, Infant, Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) can help parents and children live better, healthier, and more self-sufficient lives. However, families are at risk of losing out on this opportunity as Congress is running out of time to renew MIECHV.
