Sunday’s letters: Early education

As a Save the Children Action Network advocate who has dedicated her life to improving the lives of young children, I am excited to welcome South Carolina state legislators back into session and eager to see how they will invest in kids in 2020.

A child’s character is developed between the crucial ages of 1 and 5 years old. It is so important for all children to be in a quality early childhood program where they can grow socially, emotionally and intellectually through positive interactions with peers and qualified caregivers. During these early years, a child’s identity emerges and, with proper early care and education, children are equipped with the necessary skills to become productive citizens.
