Washington, D.C. (November 9, 2016) – Liz Mathis and Zach Nunn, endorsed and backed by Save the Children Action Network (SCAN), on Tuesday night each won their races for re-election to the Iowa state legislature.

“I would like to congratulate Liz Mathis, a Democrat, and Zach Nunn, a Republican, who will each continue to work hard to make sure more kids in Iowa have the chance to attend high-quality early education programs,” said Mark Shriver, president of SCAN. “Both Liz Mathis and Zach Nunn have championed initiatives that help kids in their own districts and across the state and understand that high-quality early learning programs give children what they need to thrive in school and life, as well as improve the state’s economy. They also know that our future depends on our children and SCAN is proud to have supported their campaigns.”

This fall, SCAN engaged on behalf of both of these candidates with significant investments in independent expenditures, including direct mail and digital advertising. SCAN also engaged its Iowa supporters and encouraged them to vote for Mathis and Nunn through email and social media outreach.
