Home Actions Urge your Members of Congress to cosponsor the Girls’ LEAD Act

Every 3 seconds a girl under 18 gets married. Every 10 minutes, young girls die of violence. Even more, girls are 2 times less likely to receive even a basic education.

To build a more equal, inclusive future, we need to start addressing these issues with girls in their childhood. When we support girls’ empowerment, we build more stable democracies and economies. We also reduce the violence against girls and increase their educational opportunities.

Send a message to your senators and ask them to cosponsor the Girls Leadership, Engagement, Agency and Development Act (Girls LEAD Act).

  • Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) was created in 2014 as the political advocacy arm of Save the Children, to be the political voice for kids. We work to ensure that the issues critical to children’s lives and futures are given top priority by our elected leaders, building bipartisan support to make sure every child has a strong start in life.
